Long time no see everyone! Sorry about my sudden absence. The last couple of months have been quite hectic. That aside, I'm back! I have a few games to show off. This month I am going to be highlighting one of my favorite types of game: the boss arena. Basically you take away all of the enemies and go straight to the boss for a string of epic battles with multiple baddies that get progressively stronger after each boss. The great thing about these games are their simplicity. These games are stripped down to the bare essentials of any action game. Another great thing about these games is that they are both "casual" and "hardcore" games at the same time. Casual meaning that they are great pick up and play games that are satisfying without a large time commitment. Hardcore meaning that they are often times some of the most challenging games that you can play. So without further adieu here are some great boss arena games:
Banana Nababa

Banana Nababa is an excellent platfomer style arena game that hearkens back to the good old NES days of gaming. The game features a short, cartoony protagonist against a variety of bosses. I really love the 8-bit vibe that this game gives off and the really insane amount of difficulty of this game. If you love a great challenge definitely download this.

Warning Forever

Warning Forever is a great, top-down shooter. In the game you face off against a stream of bosses that increase in size and power each subsequent time. The cool thing about the bosses is how you defeat them: by shooting their segmented parts in order to destroy the heart of the boss that controls the rest of the ship. The game keeps it pretty basic as there are no power-ups that are typically seen in shmup games. I like that even in the absence of power-ups the game's gameplay is still quite enjoyable due to the fact that you can actually change the direction that you are firing instead of only being able to fire in one direction. The game is very well balanced and should be checked out by any true gaming fan.

These are the two games that I can think of right of the top of my head but there are others out there as well. However, most boss arena games seem to be of the shmup variety. I would love to see more platformer and action boss arena games in the future. Hell, I might even attempt to make one and I encourage you developers out there to go out and make some too....NOW! Stay tuned for more great indie games next month :)
