The storyline is the best thing about Final Fantasy 7. I haven't played a game that immersed me so deeply in it's storyline before I played this. Everything about this game is so well made. From the soundtrack, to the character development, to the overall look. In my opinion, FF7 is the best of the Final Fantasy series. Not only that, but it has to be the best game I have ever played. Do not skip on this one.

Anywhere you look, any community any mmo, anything online you will come across one Sephiroth. Why?
Because out of Final Fantasy VII came out the most respected and beloved villain of all times in games. Because there is no one person that does not recognise this name.
This game changed gamer's life almost everywhere on the planet. Whoever's played it considers it as one of the greatest games of all times. That's no surprise...
A storyline to die for, graphics and cut scenes that are carved in our heads, a music score that requires constant praising and a battle system unique to any rpg.
9 different characters, so many different stories and adventures, so many spells and specials, so many secrets. A game worth playing again... and again and again!

I remember the first time I played this game. It was one of those "Well I've liked the other games, might as well try this one." So I did...
99 game play hours later I'm trying to breed the perfect Chocobo, and preparing to take down the Ruby and Emerald Weapons.

Addicting isn't fitting for this game as much as all-consuming. Once you start playing, it's hard to stop. If you're a hardcore RPG player, this the one that set the bar.

Final Fantasy 7 is amazing because, it's not online, it's not multiplayer, it's not even all that difficult to understand the controls. Yet I can not think of another single-player game that has earned more replay value in my book.

I found myself doing my best to equip each and every character with the absolute best gear they could have, just so I'd have a reason to keep playing. If you like RPG's and for some reason have never played FFVII then you are doing yourself a great disservice.

A good game, but completly over hyped. The first time I played this game, it was the shit. After I was hit by a wave of nustalga I decided to re-play it, and it fell apart at the seems. Whoever says this is the best Final Fantasy hasn't played numbers 6 10 and 12, they are clearly better than 7.

That said, its still pretty solid. It ranks as one of the better I've played, but its more the memories that makes this game stand out to me.

This might make me some enemies, but I'll say it anyway: Final Fantasy VII is one of my least favorite Final Fantasy games. One major reason why is the materia system. In this game, you have magic spheres which you socket into your weapon and "armor" that give you access to spells and other abilities. This means that, once you have enough materia, there is very little difference in what the characters are capable of.
This means that choosing your party is now PRACTICALLY MEANINGLESS. In past games, characters supplemented each other... FFIV: Cecil is the strong fighter, Rosa is the healer, Rydia is the summoner, Edge is a ninja, etc. FFVII's characters serve no such purpose: Cloud fights with a sword, Tifa fights with her fists, Cid fights with a spear, Red XIII fights with... a comb? Barret and Vincent fight with guns. Aeris is magic-focused, but anyone can cast spells and most of us know where Aeris goes at the end of disc one. Yuffie's kind of a thief, but anyone can steal. Who am I missing? Cait Sith? Does he even matter?
Only the limit breaks, the quality of each character's equipment and the type of fighting they do will help determine your party choice on a strategic level. As a result, the choice often literally degenerates into a popularity contest. Again: Cait Sith will not matter to most FFVII players. He's barely even a plot device.
All that being said... it's still Final Fantasy. It's an immersive RPG experience with a good story and battles that will challenge you, even if your choice of combatants is a non-issue. I still recommend it-- but I recommend most other FF games ahead of it.

Midgar, a city ruled by a multi millionaire corperation, named after it's President, Shinra. This company are uses the life force of the Earth, Mako energy as a cheap and reliable source of power. Of course this means destruction for the earth and so a small resistance group called Avalanche are falling in the try and end this company. The group is made up of Biggs, Wedge, Barret, Jessie, Tifa and an ex-SOLDIER specialist, Cloud Strife. Soon after making their strike on their second Mako reactor, they find themselves being framed for an attack, they find themselves going up to Shinra personally. Only to find that a man named Sephiroth is seeking his revenge on the corporation.

Final Fantasy VII's strongest point is it's plot, it is an epic, with all of the great assets of a good novel, there are love affairs, anger, revenge, betrayal and more. It has a set of clever twists and turns to make the player want to know what happens next, its just like watching an episode of 24.

Graphics, today they aren't the best, but for the time, they were immense, 3D fully animated characters, with rich 3D rendered backgrounds and well animated 3D movie sequences, it was something then. Of course today, you can appreciate the style the graphics has, it has it's own uniqueness to it, although anime, it contains originality.

The music, is midi best and quite well done and very well suited for each part, it may not compare in quality to music in some of today's games, but again, like the graphics it has it's own style that does it justice.

The gameplay follows the classic RPG system, choose a command and the character fulfils it whilst taking turns with the enemy and you gain EXP to level up. However Final Fantasy VII doesn't require your character to learn skills or spells, there is a 'materia' system, where you attach a small coloured sphere to your weapons and accessories that allow for you to use it's power. With the materia system, you can gain experience on a certain materia making it stronger and you can even use extra skills after a while.

Overall, this game contains an unforgettable originality with its own personal style and an unbeatable epic plot that can have its player hooked to it more than a drug addict on heroin. It's a must have for any RPGamers out there, for it earned tops scores when it was made, and continues to receive a high score.

Usually I like to do fairly long reviews on my own publication, but here I'll just get to the point. This is one of the best turn-based RPGs available, and while the graphics are dated now it is still a must play. The story is attention-grabbing, with interesting characters and a plot with a large mythos to keep players immersed. The games ATB combat system with limit breaks, etc. However, mastering the combat and figuring out where to go next in the world of Midgard may be challenging for newcomers to the RPG field. This is a game you'll want to keep coming back to, again, and again, and again.
