The Ilyushin Il-2 Sturmovik was a legendary Russian ground attack aircraft, and appears in this WW2 combat flight sim in 10 variations representing 1941 through 1943. The game also features a host of other allied and enemy aircraft, many of them flyable.


IL-2 Sturmovik was developed by Maddox Games of Russia's software giant 1C, who published the game there. Ubisoft published the game in the rest of the world in 2001.

Most IL-2 players opt to include the subsequent expansions Forgotten Battles, Ace Expansion Pack and Pacific Fighters in the installation, as it's become nearly a requirement for many of the remaining game servers.

Trivia! The Soviet Union produced a total of 36,163 of Ilyushin Il-2 Sturmovik combined with it's successor the Il-10, making it the most produced aircraft design in aviation history.
