Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is the follow-up to one of the most captivating and intelligent adventures on the original PlayStation. Solid Snake, everyone's favorite mullet-sporting supersoldier, is back, along with many other familiar faces and voices. While its predecessor was lauded for telling a complex story, this sequel has even more fascinating twists and turns. Also, like Metal Gear Solid, MGS2 takes console-game storytelling to an entirely new level with stunning in-game movies, great graphics, and game mechanics that let you find your own solutions to challenges. The game's twisting and at times bizarre plot will undoubtedly keep some gamers perplexed.

Konami has replaced the moronic enemies from the first MGS with more cerebral and capable foes; this causes an even greater emphasis on stealth than the original. The controls have been refined and Snake's repertoire of moves has grown, significantly deepening the gameplay. This is, technically and stylistically, one of the best-looking PS2 games on the market. The sound is also topnotch, with a fabulous score and outstanding voice acting. What makes this game such a standout, however, is how all of these sight, sound, and story elements combine to immerse the player into an entertainment form somewhere between movie and game. It will be years before Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is surpassed. This is interactive entertainment at its finest. --Raymond M. Padilla

loved this one, one of the best stories for an action game.

Some say it's a game, some say it's a movie. One things for sure, it's a classic!

Oh yeah I think anybody who says Raiden's gay is either wrong in the head or gay themselves because sure if you haven't seen the game then you might think he is a she {trust me Ken Finney my dad when I had a ninja Raiden picture on my desktop he said who is she?}

I finally got round to playing this earlier in the year, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Whilst at times it seemed like i was watching cutscene after cutscene, it really kept the story going. It also helped since i played this before MGS1.
That, combined with the need to sneak around whilst trying not to be detected made this quite challenging, but interesting nonetheless.
I was also impressed by the look of the game - even though it was made nearly 6 years ago, it still looked amazing. Perhaps i dare to say, better than such games as Doom 3?

My only big gripe is with the PC version - i couldn't quite get my controller fully working, which was made worse by the fact that the configuration tool looked like it was hastily translated from Japanese.

Metal Gear Solid is probably my favorite game of all time. It had the right amount of cutscenes to make the story feel right. Wiley and I were talkin about this today... maybe I'm just not over the hump in MGS3

I disagree with Sean on that post. I LOVE the cutscenes. The first Metal Gear Solid is still my favorite. The character development and story was just so great...Psycho Mantis and Ninja are just awesome. The plot twists, level design, just everything was so great about that game. I really enjoyed the re-make Twin Snakes because it had the polish of the others, but I thought the new gameplay mechanics made the game a little too easy.

Not even close to the best Metal Gear game but still extremely fun to play and mess around with.
