Bottom Line: Really great game! Totally awesome game, it has a lot of good sides and also some bad sides.
First of all, the drifting and wheelies (bikes only) feels great, you can hold the skididng button while in air and it'll automatically skid once you land and you can skid in very narrow corners, getting boost just before you crash, it's things like that will make you win or lose a race! So there's some depth to the game, but even if you're not a hardcore gamer it's a really fun game! The new tricks are great too, you can use small road bumps + boost to get a small jump that you can trick in, which is kinda fun experimenting with. The new levels are fun and big and you can also play on some older levels from other Mario Kart games but with updated graphics. And as i said, there are some bad sides, the game has some slowdowns at some points mostly only when playing 2 or more players (especially 3 players or more!) and the graphics aren't that great either but it's fully playable!... but i can't help but feel like they could have spent some more time on the graphics engine getting thins to run smoother. Also, the new items aren't that great, they're only annoying and there's no way to escape from them. And the other thing is that when you collide with another player you'll bounce like crazy, this has to do with the 3 weight classes in the game (Small, Medium and Large), so if a Small character hits a Large character the Small player will be shot straight out of the level and that happens a lot, especially on some levels, it's a good idea but the knockback is way too strong. And finally, the powerfull items doesn't feel rare enough, you'll get hit by blue shells, lightning, pow and the squid over and over again (Especially since there's 12 players) feels like the game is more about the items rather than actually driving which is a shame cause the driving mechanics feels really really good, so the game needs some balancing imo. But after all is said and done, it's a really fun game for both beginners and hardcore gamers and the online part only sweetens the deal! Learning Curve: Takes a second
