Sonic the Hedgehog(2006)

The story of Sonic begins in Soleanna, the City of Water. Soleanna is ruled by Princess Elise, who is the keeper of a dark secret, the "Flames of Disaster", which involves the Chaos Emeralds. Dr. Eggman learns of the "Flames of Disaster" and attempts to kidnap the Princess when Sonic appears and destroys Eggman's robots, escaping with Elise. Soon afterwards, Elise is successfully captured by Eggman, but not before she gives Sonic the blue Chaos Emerald she had, after which point, Sonic joins with Tails to save Elise. Sonic and Tails are able to rescue Elise, but they are pursued by Eggman's robots. Tails is able to divert the robots, allowing Sonic and Elise escape. Running to a field, Elise thanks Sonic for saving her, but she notices that he is hurt, and she uses a strap of her dress to bandage his wound. Elise explains to Sonic more about Solaris and the Flames of Disaster. When Elise shows signs of apprehension, Sonic tells Elise to smile and they return to the city. However, upon entering the city, Sonic is soon attacked by a strange white hedgehog called Silver the Hedgehog, who has traveled from the future to stop the "Iblis Trigger"[4] during his journey; Iblis causes many deaths in the future from which Silver hails.[5] Sonic and Silver engage in combat, but Elise is captured again by Eggman.

Overall Rating: awful

Bottom Line: Most disappointing game ever.
So, one day Sonic Next-Gen is announced. There's a video preview for some lucky Japanese people, and some people secretly bring in cameras. What hardcore fans, ehh? Great preview. Looks like the game is amazing in graphics, and the gameplay looks like it's coming along fine, too. The engine looks good. It's looking like this game will kill the complaints about how bad Sonic Heroes was, and the even-worse Shadow the Hedgehog. It really looks like it's coming along quite well. So we get updates with rather large gaps, but each time they are pretty good updates. Level design is actually looking quite good... About a year and a half after the announcement of the game, the demo is released. The demo was actually pretty good, and I played it quite a few times. It was a good taste of what was to come. Then, they decided that they needed to rush it to get it out in-time for the holidays. What do you think went wrong with Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog? Same thing. They find it necessary to rush the game to get it out in-time. So they whip up a bunch of crappy level designs, terrible mini-games, godawful ever-frequent loading screens, and make the game ABSOLUTELY CRAP. You can easily tell when they started rushing it, too. The first three levels announced actually weren't bad for Sonic. THEN it started being crap. The only half-way good gameplay in the whole game is the uber fast miniature stages, and even those can get pretty glitchy. The whole game has terrible level design, and, as if that weren't bad enough, glitches up the wah-zoo. You would think that a SONIC game that was being made for AT LEAST 2 YEARS would be good, but apparently they were too busy whoring polygons to make any gameplay. Honestly, Sonic has a chance to be 3D... The Sonic Adventure series proved that. But they're doing it all wrong. The gameplay is such crap, and the only reason the game is challenging is because of the fact that there are so many glitches in every single stage. Silver's gameplay is the only gameplay that is half-assed, while Sonic and Shadow's is quarter-assed. If you want a good Xbox 360 game, get Catan or Marble Blast Ultra... Hell, Halo 3 if you want. If you want a good PS3 game, well... there aren't any good games on the PS3 until Lemmings is released, so tough luck. Anyway, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. Don't even think about wasting your money on this absolute piece of crap. If you want a good, new Sonic game, get Sonic Rivals or Sonic Rush Adventure. Sonic Riders doesn't exactly count. Just trust me on this one. Don't get so curious you have to buy it. You will end up really regretting it.
