What's the Game's Look?

The goal for the game's look is realism. We're playing with custom shader effects, such as motion blur, high dynamic range lighting, and depth-of-field blurring to create an effect that looks realistic. Keeping a high frame rate with vibrant colors is another key contributor to the shiny and glossy look we're after. Fortunately TGEA's Milestone 4.1 added a lot of the custom lighting effects that were needed.

What About the Technology?

This game is being developed with the Torque Game Engine Advanced (TGEA) and features high resolution models with varying Level of Detail, Ageia PhysX integration, Racing AI, High Resolution Atlas terrain, and an array of Shader Effects.

What's Required to Play?

This game really pushes the PC hardware to its limits and requires at least a 1.8GHz Processor and a 2.0 Pixel Shader Graphic Card with 256 MB RAM. The game also factors in support for Ageia's PhysX PPU card. When installed, additional physics interactions are added to enhance the game's look.

What are the Gameplay Mechanics?

This game is part Project Gotham Racing and part Flight Simulator. The racing vehicles hover above the ground and fly like an aircraft, but with easier handling. The game is played in third person view behind the racer. In a single player game, you race against 3 to 5 other AI driven vehicles along a pre-determined path. There are checkpoints along the path that guide all racers through the race. Natural Hazards, such as falling debris, can impact a racer and slow it down. The first vehicle to cross the finish line wins.
