More about America's Army
America's Army is a squad-based shooter, letting the player be a part of a small team fighting againt one other team in short (generally around 10 minutes) rounds. The teams are usually assault against defenders, where the attackers have to reach an objective or similar within the time limit, and the defenders have to stop them.
The game has several classes which determine the possible weapons loadout, while everyone can select the basic rifleman class, some others require that the player has completed one or more single-player training missions. This is the case with, for instance, the advanced marksman class.
America's Army has an experience point system to keep players focussed on getting their team to win. Players are awarded for completing objectives, healing team-mates and killing enemies, while being punished for friendly fire and destroying friendly objectives. Players who continually break the so called "Rules of Engagement" get banned from playing the game.
Initially there were game clients for Mac and Linux as well, but those have been discontinued as of version 2.5.
