World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade

Download Now
Several years have passed since the Burning Legions defeat at Mount Hyjal and the races of Azeroth have continued to rebuild their once shattered lives. With renewed strength, the heroes of the Horde and Alliance have begun to explore new lands and broken through the Dark Portal to investigate the realms beyond the known world. Will these heroes find friends or foes? What dangers and rewards lie in wait beyond the Dark Portal? And what will they do when they discover that the demons they thought vanquished have returned to renew their terrible Burning Crusade? World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade is the exciting new expansion to Blizzards award-winning massively multiplayer online role-playing game. It expands the game by tremendous bounds, adding new races, lands, battlegrounds, professions, items and more.

Bottom Line: It depends. on if you do high end raiding or not.
Now, this is going to be a strange review. I am a person who spends hours and hours playing Burning Crusade. Proof enough is that my level 70 warrior has over 2 days played at level 70 already. Now, you would expect a player like myself to give this game a great review, but that is not the case.

My opinion about Burning Crusade is something most WoW players will not like. The reason they'll hate it, because I hate it. I honestly believe that Burning Crusade is slowly ruining World of Warcraft.

Sure the expansion brings a lot of new things to the world, like a new profession, a new race for each faction, and of course new instances/zones. So what is there to hate?

For me, I play World of Warcraft for the high end raiding. Having cleared Naxxramas on my Orc Warrior with my guild I know about high end raids. It was perfect before Burning Crusade came along. Now, the reason I wouldn't recommend this game to someone looking for high end raids is because simply, they don't exist like they used to. It required 40 of us to clear Naxxramas, and that is awesome.

It takes a guild with perfect coordination to do something like that; have 40 people simultaneously working together for a single goal is remarkable. Yet, Blizzard found the need to cut that down to 25, a big mistake. The cut down in Burning Crusade of the high end raids is splitting a lot of guilds in half, and that is not something an expansion should do.

On the other hand, if you are looking for a new way to play World of Warcraft and a new zone to quest through and play in, then this is the game for you. The outlands are an amazingly fun place to level and the new races look great.

The Blood Elves have probably the best looking cities in the game. The Draenei quite possibly have the best class choices in the game. Burning crusade definitely makes World of Warcraft better in a lot of ways, just not in the way that appeals to high end raiding guilds.

This review seems more like a rant, so I will try to stear clear. The visuals in the game are awesome. Some of the updated skill graphics looks stellar, example being the judgements for Paladins. You definitely know you've been judged because a giant glowing sword of light comes striking down on you like a force from God. The new skills and talents make playing the game more fun now that they're from a different point of view!

All in all Burning Crusade is a good game for the casual WoW player, but for the hardcore it is a burden. Feeling pushed to get a game that makes me spend more time with less friends is heartbreaking. I loved raiding in WoW, now I do it in my time while i wait for Hellgate: London.
