CrashBlock
Crashblock is a platform puzzle game, mixing puzzle elements from Tetris and platform elements of Flashback.
The aim of the game is to play a tetris like game from the inside, running around the arena, climbing over the fallen blocks, trying to complete a line whilst trying to collect enough stars to advance to the next level and collecting coins and other items to boost your score and help you along the way. There are hazards to overcome, Bombs are released from completed lines along with bonus items and stars.
Complete multiple rows at once to receive additional bonuses, diamonds, emeralds and sapphires.
If the blocks pile up to the top of the arena, it's game over, If a falling block lands on you, it's squishy death and if you're caught in a bomb blast, it's goodnight sweetheart.
You have to control the crane holding the current shape by calling it over to you, then rotating the shape to the correct position and then diving out of the way while it falls.. there is no controlled drop in this game, oh no!
This game won first place in the Pascal Game Development 2007 Competition, also winning awards for best graphics and best newcomer as well as nominations for best sound and most innovative.
As a result of this, Crashblock has been entered into the 2008 Independant Games Festival in San Francisco.
Work is also underway to make Crashblock into a commercial game, more information on how to get hold of the game will follow soon and the first part of the game will always be free.
Come back often for more information.
On the 22nd of October 2007, Crashblock was released for shareware for Windows.
It will be shortly followed by the Mac OSX version and then the Linux version.
