It delivers in most aspects of the film noire style detective story that seems promised in the beginning stages, but relies more on combat as it progresses. That's fun also, but it does change the feel.
People tend to talk about the bugs, and there are some, but I wouldn't even have any worth mentioning but for a well known flaw at the end of the game that prevented me from seeing a couple of final sequences.
I've read about a work around it and could have downloaded some help, but I didn't bother. I wish instead that someone had posted a gamesave just past the trouble spot.
It's really a shame Headfirst never got to release the Sequel, or the game I have waited for all my life, At the mountains of Madness :(
I got to a point where I met an impasse due to a cutscene on the ship perpetually crashing the engine[and nothing I found could work past it?]. Too bad; I've read and am familiar with Lovecraft's work and this FPS made for a gripping experience. Hotel chase scene was nervewracking...
I really liked the inventory and item manipulation systems evolved for this game and would like to see more of that in my FPSers.
