I love the pace of this game. Echoes starts off a little bit slow but immediately picks up and then doesn't let up. In Echoes you pilot what is essentially a little circle within a bigger circle that shoots lasers. The outer circle represents your health (which I actually liked in place of a health bar) and will decrease in size as you take damage. The fun thing about this game is watching all of the vibrant, firework looking explosions that ensue from the mayhem you inflict upon flying space debris, the graphics are really well done and give this game a great look. The gameplay is where it is really at though, even if the game is a fairly old idea Echoes manages to draw new life out of the Asteroids concept. Echoes manages to accomplish this through excellent gameplay controls and in-game elements. Using the mouse with this game is very easy and quite fun and there are a variety of power-ups to obtain while blasting space junk to Tatooine.
All said and done this is a very well made asteroids style shooter that will provide many hours of casual fun to come (for me at least lol) Try it out, it is a small download and it's free!

This game is a truly entertaining arcade style game. The music and graphics keep things lively, the variations as levels go past make the game constantly more difficult. As the game's help option says:

10 Shoot Stuff
20 Die
30 Goto 10

It's as simple as that...

It really does have an old school arcade feel to it. The graphics remind me of the spawn of Asteroids and the old Voodoo Lights screen saver. It's fun, and for a free game, the value is unbeatable. It's worth checking out if you dropped a lot of quarters back in the 80s.

I've not played any Binary Zoo Studios games before, but I might just check them out now.

Another hit from the boys at BZ! Developed with my language of choice, darkBASIC Pro, Binary Zoo has made a game that rivals Geometry Wars in particle madness. With multiple control schemes to use that add variety to how you play, the ability to use your own soundtrack in the game, simple gameplay mechanics and fantastic visuals this game is a must play. The trump card of darkBASIC.

Amazingly addictive, and probably the best looking indie game I've ever played. The controls are smooth and simple and the goal is simple, shoot things, die and play again. It's great fun and something you'll be looking to come back to day after day. The music is the only big drawback that I saw, it just gets way to repetitive after a while and a few different songs or dynamic music would have been great.
