More About Exolon DX
Exolon DX was released by Retrospec at the tail end of 2005 and was developed using Allegro, AllegroGL, FMOD and OpenGL. It actually runs on a custom scripting engine designed for making 2D sprite-based games easily[1] and speedily[2].
There aren't really any improvements over the original aside from slightly fairer gameplay, an extra super-hard level after the game's original ones and lots of eye-candy.
The engine is currently being used to write a remake of Wizball.
[1] This turned out to not be true. Bah!
[2] Nor this.
