FruitLoot
Fruit Loot - (working title)
-- PLOT --
The game is a serious attempt to create a BomberMan like multiplayer game for my kid, who is about 5 years old now... and Mom. Since I, as well as my girls, can't stant violent games - though Bomberman _is_ fun, no question - this game does not contain any violence.
The game is designed for my X-Box running Linux (thus it has very low specs and should run fine everywhere). It will be FREEWARE for good.
That's the idea.
The game starts, you see 4 players. You move them with plugged in joysticks. Player 4 can use CRSR+RCtrl and player 3 can use WASD+LCtrl for debug purposes.
-- GOAL --
The aim it to simply find a key on the playfield (which will be fruits later) and bring it to the keyhole (a friut shop later) with the corresponding color. This will earn you a star. The first one with 5 stars wins the match.
-- FLOOR --
-Dirt - makes you walk at 50% speed.
-Wall - makes you walk at 0% speed.
-- POWER-UPs --
You can collect extras along with the keys. The green framed ones are good, the red framed ones are bad. When you collect a red item, you might get sick, which is indicated by a clinical thermometer above the player. These diseases will vanish after a short time.
Items that are not framed, as well as keys, can be collected and thrown with any joypad button.
If you throw a key, well, you throw a key.
If you throw any other item, they will spread out to disease-items in a circular arrangement. For every red item there's also a throwable item that corresponds to the disease.
- Good Items (green)
-skates - run faster
-boots - walk fast on dirt
-briefcase - loose less extras when being bumped
-star - get a full star at sudden. Yay!
- Bad Items (red)
-skate - walk slow for a few seconds
-star - Loose a star (if you have one). Doh!
-rot joypad - rotate the controls by 90 degrees
-- BUMPed --
If 2 players touch, eaither:
-One player takes the key from the other player, and leaves the "victim" stunned for 3 seconds which indicated by a disease icon.
-Or, if both or none of the players carries a key or item, they will both loose all their collected extras. They will not loose what they carry. If you have a briefcase (or several), you loose less items in that case. Both players will have a shield-bubble around them for a few seconds, which indicates they are un-bump-able now.
-- TODO --
-More Extras (can you think of some?)
-Diseases
-Star move to scoreboard
-More Floor Tiles (any ideas?)
.ice
.holes (reset to start-position)
-Graphics
I'm a coder. That's why I can't draw. If someone can paint "Hello Kitty" style graphics, please, please help!
If you want to get an impression about what I'm talking, see this website:
http://www.mypinkroom.com
-Sounds
-Music (help, please?)
Again, I'm a coder. You definitely do _not_ want to have music from me ;).
-End-Round images, winner's cup, scoring, title screen
The end-round is quite jerky programmed, so you can test the game now.
A few better images would do nice, however, I'd wait for the game gfx to be updated first.

Yuss, that's the idea. My kid's not even 6 years old, and that's the main target :D

This also looks like something easily picked up by kids with special needs or delays. Great for Eye:Hand coordination and involvement. Am I right?
