I have no trouble getting this game to work on WinXP, although I have the more recent release of the game (in a DVD case) rather than the original.
I'm glad the sequel was cancelled because, as Jake said, it never looked like it had a clear direction. The cartoon "Pixar" animation style is not how I want to remember the series and I often wondered if the story/script would be "cartoonised" too. Strangely, the original chunky VGA graphics fitted the gritty atmosphere of the game.
"I fixed your door... it was sticking."
"Ripburger! You're dumber than dirt!"

Total classic, this.
And yep, there was a sequel in development a couple years ago - "Full Throttle: Hell on Wheels" - but it got cancelled (possibly for the best, since from what little was shown it looked to be a mess, but who knows really?)
"you know what would look good on your face? the BAR!"
