Goatscape
Goatscape was created as part of GAMMA01: Audio Feed (http://www.kokoromi.org/gamma/). This was a unique game development/art event in which participants were asked to make a game which used audio input to control some element of the gameplay.
My team created a Smash TV clone using Torque Game Builder (TGB) called "Goatscape". Total development time was about 2 months with three developers and two artists.
Enemies are effected by the music by how much bass beat energy there is in the song being played.
Every time a beat is detected a random enemy is selected on screen. The enemy selected will be affected by the beat depending on what type of enemy it is.
While beat detection is not inherent to Torque Game Builder I integrated such capabilities using FMOD (http://www.fmod.org) and a beat detection library authored by Shawn McGrath. Shawn has made this library freely available on his website at http://www.rsblsb.com/technology.shtml
Goatscape was made for use with a dual analog joystick and hence will not work with any other control type to my knowledge. Please feel free to try it out and let me know if it works for your particular controller.
Controls are...
-Move with the left analog stick
-Shoot with the right analog stick
-D-pad buttons can be used to respawn when you are killed
Goatscape is a 1 or 2 player game. Any direct input controller(s) with dual analog joysticks should work fine to run it.
