From the breathtaking splendor of 1930 Asia, three strangers are about to set forth on an adventure that will span an entire continent. Heart of China is an adventure game that takes place in 1930's Asia. You are former pilot Jake "Lucky" Masters, and you are hired for a mission. E.A. Lomax's daughter Kate has been kidnapped, and he is offering you $200,000 to rescue her. Each day that goes by, your reward is reduced by $20,000. You can't accomplish this task alone, so you get help from the Ninja, Zhao Chi. Only you can save Kate from the evil Li Deng.
Heart of China is an adventure game, but there are some different features that make it stand out from other adventure games. First of all, you don't just play one character throughout the game. You can switch between the three different main characters at times, and they use different tactics to solve the puzzles. The plot is not linear and puzzles can be solved in different ways and in a different order. Also, there are a few action sequences placed in between the puzzles that can be skipped if you want to. Multiple endings give some replay value to a type of game that normally doesn't have any.
