MegaRace
MegaRace is a video game created by Cryo Interactive, released in 1994. It was released for MS-DOS on March 28, 1994, for the Sega CD on July 30, 1994 and for the 3DO on September 5, 1994.
MegaRace takes place in the distant future, where the player is a contestant on a game show, called "MegaRace". MegaRace is on the VWBT (Virtual World Broadcast Television) television channel where they play a live or die race match against Hells Angels-like speed gangs (where haven't we seen this before?). MegaRace's host is the eccentric and sometimes corny Lance Boyle. He guides you throughout the game, introducing new levels and enemies to you and tries to discourage you.
The objective in this game is simple: in every level, you must "defeat" a gang of cars within three laps of the course. You can do this by either shooting them up or slamming them into the course walls until they explode, or by passing them and putting enough distance between you and them that they are forced to explode.
The game is most notable for not being truely 3D, but a 2D game in a pre-rendered 3D environment, so you could not technically move in 3D space, but only change the car's horizontal position on the course.
