In something of a departure for us we're not going to try and claim this has any original features, gameplay twists or surprises.

Initially only written to test a few routines we're writing for our main project, we've decided to release it anyway in the hope someone might get some enjoyment from it

Bottom Line: There's a fine line between sensibility and madness. Mono goes way over that line.
You know that little game we all used to love, in which you shot asteroids with a little spaceship? Now, imagine you used every possible sort of drug before playing that, and you get a bit of the idea.

Mono isn't just another Asteroids clone, though. Mono has an idea to it. The goal isn't just to survive as long as you can, instead, your goal is to colour the screen. Exactly, like painting it. You achieve this goal by shooting the coloured enemies that come in three distinct flavours: red, blue and green. Shooting a blob kills it (or splits it up in smaller blobs) and leaves a bit of the respective colour on the background. By mixing these colours, you ultimately try to fill your background.

That is, in theory. In reality, you're more busy trying not to get hit and to not blink your eyes. This game has what I like to call 'flow', reaching a point in which you're not thinking but just acting, swinging your mouse around the desk frantically and not touching your slowly warming can of coke. Its simple yet genius twist to the good old asteroids makes this a great game for a fun fifteen minute break - but be warned, before you know it those fifteen minutes have turned into hours.
