Monochrome
Monochrome is a top-down multiplayer game inspired by Tank Wars, Soldat and Crimsonlands. Players face off against each other in free-for-all mayhem. Gameplay is fast and furious with room for skill and tactical play, given the right group of players.
The game links size directly to health: If you're healthy you're big and easy to hit; If you're low on health you're tiny and can squeeze through narrow areas to get out of danger.
There are 5 weapons, each following a specific elemental theme, with a primary and secondary attack mode per weapon. They're designed to compliment each other and enable specific playstyles: A close-quarters fighter is going to enjoy the Flamer's high damage output and it's secondary ability to lay down globs of napalm to herd players and keep them from running away; Whereas a more timid player might prefer to stick to the Earth weapon's bouncing projectiles and grenades...
WASD + Spacebar to leap, mouse-aiming with LMB and RMB to fire.
Updated for Vista compatibilty. Please report any further bugs or issues...

| Everything... | Average | Project was initially a test of a game network layer I was trying to come up with at the time... That merged with a tutorial I did for NAG magazine on control schemes, suddenly I had a game. I remember begging and pleading to get people to test the game, then suddenly a few people started playing. 3 hours later they were still going at each other, shouting and generally having fun. Biggest smile of my life! |
