Phantom Dust

The developers must have been obsessed with Magic: the Gathering, Soul Caliber, and Unreal Tournament. It's played from an over-the-shoulder camera in 1v1 or 2v2 matches. Player's freely run around large environments collecting resource balls and locking onto enemies. Each time is resource ball is collected it's like drawing a new card from a CCG deck. Player's always have 4 of these "cards" in hand - one mapped to each face button. Most are attacks, but some others are defensive or allow moves like super jumps.

Combat is all about locking onto an enemy and firing at them once they're in the optimal range for your spell. You also need to carefully time your defensive spells to counter their attacks and keep moving to find more orbs and refresh your spell pool. The environments are destructible so destroying the bridge under your enemy is a lot of fun.

Between battles the game is all about customizing your pool of spells and acquiring new spells. Like a CCG there's tons of combinations and strategies.

Multiplayer battles are supported on Xbox Live.
