Bottom Line: Don't Bother
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for Gamecube is one of those games that pulls off Action Adventure very well. However, it might not be for everybody. So, who is this game for? Well, do you like your characters to be able to pull off insane stunts? Then you'll like this game. Do you dig Spider-Man? Well, he's got his own games, but you'll like this one too. Do you like time travel? Then play the sequal, but play this game first so you'll know whats going on.

The story of Prince of Persia has the prince rushing across the grounds of a Maja Raja's palace trying to undo the horrible, horrible mistake of unleashing the Sands of Time. It is told in a pretty clever flashback mode which I really like.

The game starts off with the army's off the Prince's daddy dearest unleashing hell on the Sultan that owns the Sands of Time. This is a training level that lets you learn and get a feel for the Prince's abilities and fighting style. A major plus. After you do this, you're shown a cinimatic where the Prince sings Purple Rain and then sets lose the Sands of Time.

The battle system is spot on with the ability to create your own style of battle, which allows for a nice dose of stratagy. Unfortunatly, the battles have a tendancy to drag on, and it because a wee bit stressful if you're running low on health.

Speaking of health, the game has hidden secret areas where you can actually get health boosts, which will make the game a bit easier for some players, and add a bit of welcome releif for others.

The Prince also upgrades his sword through the game, which will allow access to differant areas. However, this feels a little tacked on as you can't backtrack. But it is still nice.

The Prince's stunts allow for high flying, wall running, flag pole swinging fun, and with the help of the sands of time, should you screw up, you can actually reverse time and try it again. In battle, this can become a last chance meter, allowing you to go back and do things differantly for a better outcome.

The camera is the major flaw in this game. It can be incredably hard to see at times, which might make for some missed jumps or a spear stuck up your ass. All in all, with the chance to make Spider-Man cry with wicked stunts and a great story, it earns a 4 out of 5
