Populous: The Beginning
More about Populous: The Beginning
Populous: The Beginning is a departure from the earlier Populous games. Instead of the overview map from where you control things as a god, you are now incarnated as a shaman of a tribe. And instead of the two dimensional layout of earlier games, this game is in 3D.
Instead of opposing gods, there are three opposing tribes, of which at least one is present in each level. Like in the earlier Populous games, the goal is still to eliminate the opposition.
The game is still a Populous game, and so the battle between two (or more) tribes doesn't come down to numbers. The shaman of each tribes can cast spells to help its own tribe, or hinder the opposing tribe. Spells include raising and lowering land, lightnings, volcanos and earthquakes. At the beginning of the game the shaman is not very powerful, but gains spells as the game progresses.
