Portal
Portal is a first-person puzzle game that comes bundled with the Half-Life:2 Orange Box set.
The game revolves around the so called "Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device" a device that can create portals on almost any surface, allowing instant travel and a visual and physical connection between any two different locations in 3D space.
The game is directly based on Narbacular Drop (and is developed by the same team).

| gameplay programming | Harder than Planned | The playtesting process at Valve taught me a lot about human perception in problem solving. The position of objects in a level, lighting, and audio queues are more important to a successful puzzle design than the puzzle concept itself. Puzzles that at first seemed doomed to be cut were almost always usable after arranging the elements in a different way. |
