Starcraft: Brood War
StarCraft: Brood War is an expansion pack released in 1998 for StarCraft — an award winning real-time strategy computer game. It was co-developed by Saffire and Blizzard Entertainment.
The expansion pack introduced new campaigns and two additional units for each race, new tech advancements, new map tilesets, and new music. The campaigns continue the story from where the original StarCraft left off: the Overmind had been destroyed with the sacrifice of Tassadar, the Protoss homeworld of Aiur had been left desolate and rampaged by the Zerg, and Kerrigan was now left alone in her new Zerg form. Full details are in the Brood War introduction.
The first of the new campaigns involves the Protoss, (or rather, the Dark Templars), and mostly takes place on their homeworld of Shakuras. The second campaign features the newly arrived armies of the United Earth Directorate (UED) commanded by Admiral DuGalle, and the last campaign (Zerg) has Kerrigan as the protagonist.

Bottom Line: Play it! The Expansion to one of the best selling games in history, Brood war takes place immeadiately after Starcraft- the Zerg's Overmind has been defeated, turning literally billions of Zerg on countless planets into mindless animals. Auir, the Protoss homeworld, is in ruins and overwhelmed with Zerg, and the Terrans have a new threat from their past. During all this, the Queen of Blades makes her move for power.
Starcraft adds a more indepth editor, new map tilesets, including the deserts of Korhal and the Cool blue planet of Shakuras, as well as additional units for each side; The Zerg get the Lurker, an evolution on the infamous Hydralisk, who attacks while hidden deep underground, and the Devourer, who is an evolution on the Mutalisks, shoots spores that can slow an enemy down and make them easier to kill, although as with all new air units in Brood War, it can only attack air. The Protoss return with the mysterious Dark Templar, who are now a buildable unit, and now can join to create the new Dark Archon- a far cry from the Blue Ball of Chaos, the Dark Archon is a spell casting unit that really nerfs all other sides with the ability to control enemies minds, including builders. The Protoss AA-Air Unit is the Corsair, who fires rapid splash damage attacks while also having the ability to stop all ground units and buildings from being able to attack Lastly, the Terran appear back in the Koprulu Sector with two new units- A Medic, who can quickly turn the tide when dealing with an army of Marines, and the Valkyrie, who fires rockets wildly at any flying unit that gets close to it. Starcraft continues the storyline while uping the difficulty, to what some news sources have reported as impossiblity difficulty, and has a secret level that hints at a new race in a future game Starcraft Brood War is an excellent title, and though there are some balancing issues, it is definately a title worth picking up Learning Curve: Instant!
