Pure destruction, mayhem, explosions, swords, guns, shields, armor, fireballs, mushrooms, freezies, and did I say destruction? A pugilistic frenzy of weapons, tools, and eggs that leaves any gamer wanting more. Hard to take a break from. Four players will create laugh riots, especially with sleep deprivation or Kirby.

Probably the best game on the Gamecube, and possibly the best fighting game. Ridicolously fun, with an element of luck with the item factor, as well as skill. I know that whenever my friends and myself play games, we inevitably play Smash Bros. Melee.

Simply put, Super Smash Brothers: Melee never gets old. It's faster paced than the original, but has the same, simple premise: Deal blows to your opponents to increase their percentage, and eventually knock them off the map.

The game has plenty of things to do and items to unlock, but the real greatness of the game is in the multiplayer. Up to four players (Human or computer) can play at once, and the wide variety of characters and maps gives the game immense replay value.

Even though the game's premise may seem too simple, and the game nothing more than a "button masher", there is real skill involved in the game, and winning a game rarely has much to do with luck.

I know I've spent far too much of my young college career playing this game. Get this game. And if your friends refuse to play it with you, get new friends. Believe me, you'll be happier when you do.

Quite possible the greatest game in the Gamecube's library, Super Smash Bros. Melee is addictive, infinitely replayable, and chock full of Nintendo fan service. Who wouldn't want to pit Pikachu and Samus in a battle royal to the death?

The gameplay is exceptional and balanced. Instead of just taking your opponents health down to zero, you continue to hurt your opponent until he/she is weak enough to be thrown off the arena. And that means that if you're really good, you can survive twice as long as you could with a standard health system.

The graphics are a bit outdated, with this being a first generation GCN title. But the cartoony look serves it well, and helps all the characters to blend together and keep the nintendo feel.

Super Smash Bros. Melee is a game you'll keep going back to again and again.
