Bottom Line: Play it! Quite possible the greatest game in the Gamecube's library, Super Smash Bros. Melee is addictive, infinitely replayable, and chock full of Nintendo fan service. Who wouldn't want to pit Pikachu and Samus in a battle royal to the death?
The gameplay is exceptional and balanced. Instead of just taking your opponents health down to zero, you continue to hurt your opponent until he/she is weak enough to be thrown off the arena. And that means that if you're really good, you can survive twice as long as you could with a standard health system. The graphics are a bit outdated, with this being a first generation GCN title. But the cartoony look serves it well, and helps all the characters to blend together and keep the nintendo feel. Super Smash Bros. Melee is a game you'll keep going back to again and again.
