Sonic The Hedgehog

In 1991 Sonic the Hedgehog was released on the Master System, Mega Drive and Game Gear. Its fast pace and vivid environments set it apart, and it went on to become a phenomenon, being by far the biggest-selling game on all three platforms. To date, Sonic games have sold in excess of 44 million copies worldwide, placing him ninth in the franchise sales table. (Source: Wikipedia)

The 8-bit and 16-bit Sonics were handled by different teams, hence why they're so different. For example, Sonic on the Master System and Game Gear has three levels not in the Mega Drive (Genesis) version, whereas Sonic 2 is entirely new on the 8-bit systems and has no levels from the 16-bit one. They're all great games though.

I never saw a Master System version, but I know that a GG "port" did come out. I put port in quotes because the maps were different, very different.

Likewise with Sonic 2 on the 'Gear, the maps there were also dissimilar to the Genesis version.

I first played Sonic on the Master System. I added the Genesis tag as GGE doesn't support the Mega Drive tag, but Game Gear I couldn't get working. Thanks for checking it out though.

Master System? You mean Genesis and Game Gear.

What's your favourite Sonic moment? Mine would be either running around the loop or watching that huge ball drop out of the first boss. How did it get in there, anyway..?
