Spellcast 3D

A couple of years ago, a few friends and I found a great game for those 5 minute coffee breaks. It was a turn-based strategy game, that shipped with linux in those days, called Spellcast. The basic concept is two (or more) wizards dueling with magic, casting spells by making certain gestures with their hands. While the original isnt that good looking (by todays standards) it is a really good strategy game.

I have decided to remake this game, keeping true to the original gameplay, but improve on the experience by adding all the pretty elements. This will allow us me delve into some of the [percievably] more complex aspects of 3D games and XNA , while at the same time keeping to a relatively simple game model. I think that it will also allow me to cover most of aspects that would go into any game, only at a more basic level.

I want to create a multiplayer, turn-based strategy game with 3D graphics and sound. The game features two wizards in some sort of arena, summoning creatures and flinging spells at each other. In his turn, the player would need to be able to pick an action or hand gesture for each hand (left and right), answer some questions about the targets of spells or events, and submit their turn. Then we'd get to watch the simultaneous outcomes of each player's actions.

I want our game to be played over a network and have some way of finding and joining network games with a nice user interface and menu system. This will be relatively simple to port to the XBox 360 Live Arcade once XNAGS 2.0 is released.
