Tales of Pirates

Tales of Pirates is a free, 3D Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game developed by the Chinese company MOLI. Tales of Pirates is published by IGG (Internet Gaming Gate), who have also published two other games, Voyage Century Online and Myth War Online. Several versions of the game are available for specific countries or regions such as an older version Pirate King Online.

In the game, players fight monsters to develop their skills, levels and other items. With these attributes the player may also do quests and use items. Players gain experience points to level up, which in turn allows them to be stronger. With each level, players get skill point which allow them to advance in certain areas to their liking.
When a player levels up, they have a choice of five attributes to increase.

  • Strength: Increases damage for swords, staffs, and daggers.
  • Accuracy: Increases accuracy for all classes. More damage for bows.
  • Constitution: Increases health, faster health regeneration, and defense.
  • Agility: Increases attack speed and dodge rate.
  • Spirit: Increases magical energy as well as increasing SP (Spirit Points) regeneration rate.

    Overall Rating: bad

Bottom Line: Yet another Ragnarok Clone
Gameplay: It's basically point & click, nothing special. For those who aren't familiar with Ragnarok or most online games for that matter, it will feel somewhat like diablo without all the frenzy.

Graphics: It's colorful, which is the only thing going for it. It must be because it aims for low end system, which isn't a bad thing. I like games that run fast without any hustle. The graphics are similar to (again) ragnarok but without as many sprites.

Replay: Well, You can replay it a few times if you have time. There's a small combination of races and classes, but that's pretty much it.

Fun: Not fun for me, but then again, I've never liked these kind of games, except for when I have nothing else to do or want to hurt myself in some way. I must admit, I haven't got very far so it is probably very biased.

Final comment: There are usually a lot of people online, I didn't have any experience with the community as I am the quiet type and I really didn't see a need to talk to anyone, figuring things out on your own is pretty easy on this game. By all means give it a try, lots of people get hooked to it, so there must be something good about it.
    Learning Curve: Instant!
Gameplay: Graphics: Replay Value: Fun Factor:
