Tomb Raider: Anniversary

The adventure begins when Lara is hired by a powerful syndicate to retrieve a mythical object called the Scion. As Lara searches ancient tombs and isolated worlds that have lain undisturbed for thousands of years, she discovers that she is not alone. Not only has she awoken their fearsome guardians but there are others desperate to learn the Scion’s dark secrets.

Celebrate and commemorate ten years of Tomb Raider and Lara Croft with Tomb Raider: Anniversary, a new action adventure inspired by the original Tomb Raider video game, one of the greatest action adventure games of all time.

Bottom Line: Graphical Masterpiece.
I have to say first that this is a really great looking game. Even on my PC (I only have a 64mb video card) it still looks amazing. You'll really feel totally immersed in the whole atmosphere of Tomb Raider this time around. Legend did this well but not to the extent that this game has taken the art direction. The graphics have a dreamy almost surreal feel as you marvel at beautiful tropical environments that almost look real enough to touch. The catch is, oh and there is a catch, the camera is horrible (for the PC that is...I suspect that the PS2 version controls considerably better) you will be constantly cursing the camera as you get your ass handed to you by bats. This really detracts from the gameplay which is as good and actually better than ever. However the contols are also frustrating too. The mouse is very poorly concieved in this game and will leave you wishing for a gamepad sadly. The upside is the game is actually really, really good, I would venture to say that it is the best Tomb Raider top date, that is, if you can put up with the sloppy controls.
