Valendera: Epoch of Shadows

RPG based on the world of Valendera.
Platform(s):
Publisher: None/Unknown

Part of the Old Text

The world's eyes are closed
but the ever vigilant shadow sees all.
The veil of dawn has so since parted
and dusk of eternal darkness shines
upon the inevitable horizon.

From the farthest and darkest of voids of emptiness
the first threat of the world has become the last
undying promise made by a triumvirate of evil.

For the First is said to be whose name shall never be,
the Second a prophet of madness whose has lost his wings,
and for the Last whose name burns upon the tongues of man
as the eternal fires of the infernal realms nothing can be said...

For all three proclaim:
"No rest shall there be for
those who carry the title hero upon their name."

Overview

Valendera: Epoch of Malice is the new RPG being developed by Princeton, WV based Crusader Games. It is powered by the Torque engine from GarageGames. The game will feature both a Single-Player campaign and a persistent Multiplayer Campaign. The game is based upon the world of Valendera, a d20 campaign setting created by Crusader Games writer Jeremy Webb.

Single-Player
In Single-Player, players will command the party of unlikely heroes as they take on foes such as Talascorn, the paragon dragon Lieutenant of the Corruptor; the witch Deadndine, Bhaal, and even the Corruptor himself, Azragoth.

Characters

*Elric Aldym, the disgraced soldier who has turned his back to the Gods, and now spends his time drinking and womanizing instead of serving Paldegas.

*Granite Masterforge, the dwarven blacksmith turned adventurer who tries to stay on the path of nobility but strays from it the more he fights alongside Elric.

*Garin Fyre, the apprentice mage of the Red that has more on his mind than just his mage studies, and a destiny that rivals that of all his companions.

*Killian Mist-Walker, the cursed Elven ranger who is struggling to find something to call his own; while a great warrior he has one small flaw that always haunts him.

*And many more that will make their appearance through the game's progression. Players will have up to four characters in their party and will be able to switch back and forth between the characters. Each character has their own strengths and weaknesses that they bring to the table, as well their own personal demons that they must face.

Multiplayer Campaigns (More details coming soon)
In the multiplayer game, players will create their own character so they may forge their own place into the lore of Valendera. Players can choose their race, alignment (used in PvP combat as seen below), class, skills and more. Players will be able to interact with each other to continue the war against Azragoth's remaining forces and the new threats that appear to the land.

PvP
PvP combat will be based upon player's alignment. It's the classic tale of Good vs. Evil with each alignment allowing for different Deity selection, bonuses, and even flaws. Players can form guilds, or simply group with those of the same alignment to battle against the opposing alignment in arena style PvP combat, open war, and more. More details about this will be made later.

The World
Valendera itself is an in depth campaign setting created by Jeremy Webb. Mr Webb has devoted years of work into the world developing a rich history and lore, pantheons upon pantheons of Gods, new magic system and mechanics, and so much more. Also in the works, is a d20 supplement so players can become familiar with the mechanics of the world, the characters, and more. This planned to be released around the summer of 2007. The Valendera website is being reconstructed and planned to relaunch in January. At the website players will be able to download free d20 character classes that have been made for the world and released under the OpenSRD license. Also you will be able to find fiction, character art, music downloads, and much more all for the world. You can find this at www.valendera.com.
