You are Dirge, a heroic undead zombie-hunter from the year 2035. It is up to you to protect Zoe, your helpless human companion. Zombies will come at you and you hit them with your shovel to kill them. Some zombies take more hits to destroy than others. If any zombies reach Zoe it's game over, so don't let them by you.
