X-Fighters Mayhem was the winning proposed game the Red Bull BUILD challenge in 2006 for college students to propose a Flash game based on the Red Bull X-Fighters motocross league. X-Fighters Mayhem was then developed during a 3 week period in June by a group of college students from the University of Central Florida.

In the game, players start off by taking the role of 1 of 3 different athletes in the X-Fighters league. Each character has a different move set relating to their specialties in the sport. Signature moves are also player specific and were developed based on each character's personality.

Players begin below a ramp in an arena, and begin their GO by hitting on the speed gauge. Where the player hits will affect how fast they go up the ramp, and how much air time they will have. The more air time, the more moves players can pull off. Each move is set to a key combination displayed on the left of the screen. At the end of every jump, the player has to tilt the bike to make sure they land well and earn better points. Players will have up 3 jumps each game to earn points. The more points earned, the better chance to unlock other moves to use, and 2 additional players.

Multiplayer plays the same way as single player with the exception of competing against an opponent to get the better score. Multiplayer comes with every move and character already unlocked, and the score will not effect single player. However, it does get to go on the boards for bragging rights on who is the best online.

Graphics were done in 3D and imported into Flash. In 3D, players can see that their character is detailed to resemble to real-life athlete. Also, all stunt animations were fully rendered out in 3D to perform in game.

What makes the game unique is that it brings the X-Fighters experience into a fun, casual game setting, and manages to do so in 3D while in Flash. The environment, the roaring crowd, and the ignition all bring the atmosphere of feeling like you're right there in the experience while still on a small scale.
