Ultima VII - The Black Gate
Ultima VII was single-handedly my favorite role-playing game of my youth. I spent entirely too much time baking bread. The storyline was excellent, the character development amazing, and the world expansive (yet familiar).
Devil May Cry
I am horrible at action games, but I absolutely love the precision of DMC. The atmosphere and action presented in a slick, fast package had me hooked from moment one.
Silent Hill
From the Japanese PS1 demo disk with beautifully creepy guitar music to The Room and the film, I have been a staunch supporter of the Silent Hill franchise. Even if the zombie babies were toned down for the US release.
Starcraft
I could never get into the Warcraft games, no matter how many people around me loved them. But this one kicked my ass into overdrive. The mechanics are the same, but somehow the environment made me fall in love!
Virtua Figher 4 : Evolution
A wonderful iteration of a classic. The new game modes were a wonderful addition to the hardcore fighting action.
Might And Magic VIII
Expansive 3D world with a million things to do...and yet without the pointless meanderings of the Elder Scrolls games.
King's Quest III
One of my all-time favorite adventure games. I loved creating spells (and kicking the cat).
Banjo-Kazooie
While I love Super Mario 64, this is probably my all-time favorite 3D platformer. 64 and Banjo-Tooie are in close proximity, though.
