Computer Games I Have Played 2
A gamelist by FletchardThe continuation of my game collection-ography.
Caesar III
The economic system of this game rocks. You can actually export things and make money! The army system is a little less satisfying, things happen so much more quickly. I'm glad it let me put down riots with my army though. I never got to finish it and I regret it, it would take a lot of time to do and I get tired of laying out cities after awhile.
Lords of Magic
This game confused me. The spells were hardly noticeable, the graphics were bad, and the units moved awkwardly in the real-time battles. The world effects were cool, how the different special buildings gave their owners different powers, but the game wasn't as elegant as Lords of the Realm II.
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri
I felt like this game gave me every option I could possibly want, from melting the icecaps with satellites to customizing my army units. As good for turn-based strategy as Total Annihilation was for the RTS? I think so, but never really got to spend enough time with either game to know for sure.
Day of Defeat
Another mistake, I just couldn't compete with people who were actually good and the game became one where I mindlessly ran around and tried to shoot people before they shot me. I wasn't in a clan, so it seemed that there was never any teamwork.
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
Interesting. I liked it better than Day of Defeat, and it was free, but again playing it was such a mess, so little communication, that I got frustrated. I'm not good at FPSs so my judgment on that matter shouldn't be taken too seriously.
Escape Velocity: Nova
Wow. The storylines for this game are some of the best I have seen for any game, rivaling those of the X-Wing series.
Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
The best FPS I have every played. Haven said that, I don't really remember all that much about it. It was just a good time.
Freelancer
A poorly done space RPG. All the missions involved killing people, there were cutscenes every time you landed or spoke to someone, and a bad storyline that was also very short. The game just ends and lets you spend an infinite amount of time scavenging for slightly better equipment.
Freedom Force
I was surprised at how good this game was, one of my favorite RPGs. The terrain that could be used as weapons was a really good addition to the game. All of your guys could really deliver a punch with it.
X-Wing Alliance
This game is awe inspiring and immersive. The mail that you get, the trophies you collect, and the great graphics and consistency make the game very intense. I wish I had had more time to finish it. Evacuating the hospital early in the game was a priceless mission.
Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
A fun romp, a little repetitive. It left me wondering why, after I sliced through their forty friends earlier in the level, the bad guys kept fighting.
Rome: Total War
The strategic AI seems so bad and I think the difficulty just makes things harder on you logistically, not in its intelligence. Great graphics and I love how your generals have personalities and how you maintain a family tree. I'll never forget having a series of grotesquely scarred (more HPs) generals who led charges for my army. I wish archers didn't kill my cavalry though in melee.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War
The most awe-inspiring game I have ever played. The voice acting is the best I have seen in any game, and it creates a despairing atmosphere appropriate for the game. Dreadnoughts in melee make me happy, "DIE DIE DIE". The reinforcement scheme, which allows damaged units far from your base to survive and grow stronger, makes for much more intense combat.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Winter Assault
A good expansion. The useless infantry coupled with the useful tanks make me happy to use the Imperial Guard. "Hold the line!" BOOM BOOM BOOM!
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Dark Crusade
Installing this made it so I could only play Tau and Necrons on multiplayer... hmm. The campaign is neat but repetitive. I wish that it was more balanced and that it could evolve into a game more like Rome: Total War.
Neverwinter Nights
A mediocre RPG. The D&D items and character development is fun, but the storyline is pretty linear for an RPG and the gameplay isn't very diverse or challenging.
