The Half-Mine(ded) Gamelist
A gamelist by Jim LowryHere is a partial list of games I have played. I had intended it to stretch on to hundreds of games, to help me remember and reference easily. But I guess the cap is 16.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
Playing this one a little... It's O.K. Other people seem to like it more than I do, and I don't know why. Maybe it is because I saw the Russian movie from the 70s the game is based on with my Russian girlfriend and we both agreed it was the most boring, uneventful, and time-wasting movie either of us had seen.
Civilization 4
Played this a ton when it first came out, was doing ok in the ladder, but lost interest. I'm not the kind of civ player that starts with a goal victory condition and structures the strategy to meet it. It should be up to the game to make the victory conditions balanced, and, like its predecessors, Civ 4 made space race and military domination the by-far-easiest ones to meet once again. This hurt its replay value, as did the typical compensation for bad AI of hard-number base game system handicapping that these kinds of games use to make them difficult to beat.
Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords
Yeah, these galactic civ games are kind of cool, but the built-in CAD system of making ships is way too heavy, seemed clumsy and unnecessary to me, got in the way of making ships. Plus there are a lot of tech tree problems, the game's diplomacy system is a blatant rip of Sid Meier's civ... and the game is boring to boot... Just couldn't get into this one.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
GTA is cartoon violence in its most real-seeming form. It is adrenaline-fueled fun, and Rockstar games has been very good about asserting their 1st amendment rights to let us all keep playing it. Keep away from children and other people who have any problems discerning twixt fact and fiction.
Dofus
French cartoony RPG game, but I mainly played Dofus Arena, a turn-based strategy game with cute sprites.
