Sampling of my favorites
A gamelist by MetmanI guess the best way to show off my gaming prefrences is to give an example of a few of my favorites, and explain why i like them.
The Secret of Monkey Island
I could have chosen from a slew of point and click adventure games to put here, but in the end i just had to choose my first one. The game that introduced me into the genre. This game had everything a good adventure game needed. Great humor, wit, and dialog to make up for the lack of any "action". It also instilled in me a hidden pirate interest that just seems to be peaking now. Well played, Guybrush.
Dynasty Warriors 4
This is what i currently believe to be the best current generation co-op game that is NOT a first person shooter. Sure the names are confusing characters and cities alike (Lu Bu, Hu Lao, Han Zhong. Which one of these is a person?) and the story lacks because of it, but just running around with a friend, hacking and slashing through hundreds or thousands of enemies in a level is very satisfying. And in some of the later levels you actually needed some strategy to get through some of the tougher ambushes. I cant imagine playing this game by myself, but with 2 people it's a blast.
Final Fantasy VI
Once again, i could have chosen from a slew of RPGs to fill this slot so i just decided to choose my first. Undoubtedly the best SNES final fantasy, if not the best of the bunch. I dont subscribe to that theory (9 is my favorite), but 6 would definately be up there. You can choose from a large number of characters to fill out your party, most with adequite plot development to go along with it. Each party member adds a unique skill to the line up making it possible to custimize a party to your playing prefrences. It has what i believe to be the greatest soundtrack the SNES can muster (maybe second to chrono trigger. MAYBE). Just an overall great game that reaks of quality even by todays standards.
Madden NFL 07
My first Wii game purchase was a gem. I never was a great sports enthusiast, let alone a sports game enthusiast but every time i play this game i have a blast. It really is a great example about how superior controls can beat superior graphics any day.
Guitar Hero 2
I dont like rythem games. I dont, really. But there's something about guitar hero that just makes it special. I cant put my finger on it, so any suggestions are welcome.
Metal Slug Anthology
Contra Squared with 6 sequals. Co-op fun for the ages. If you liked old run n' gun games, or are just sitting around bored with a buddy, pick this up. You wont be disappointed.
WarioWare, Inc - Mega Microgames
I had to stick this in there to demonstrate my love for games with japanese quirkiness. All the wario wares, cookin mama's, phoenix wrights, construction equipment games (i forget it's name. Was for the Playstation), irritating sticks. Just games that a publisher in america would never think of creating in a million years. God bless japan.
Team Fortress
Bar none, by favorite online/multiplayer FPS. Some people swear by Counterstrike, but i just dont have the patience to wait what could be a nice 5 minutes between deaths. I want to respawn in seconds to franticly help keep that flag alive. Some people swear by Halo/Goldeneye/GoW, but i never liked console FPSers. The mouse and keyboard are the best control scheme a shooter can get. While i'm warming up to the dual joystick controls of tomorrow, to me nothing can beat good ole mousie and boardy.
