Top Ten Favorite Games

I have yet to find a game that can top this one. Out of the hundreds and hundreds of games I've played, possibly thousands, this one stands out above all others. For 10 years it has stayed my number one and that doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon.

Although many games in the Final Fantasy series could easily make this list, I wanted only one game per series, otherwise I'd have a whole list of Zelda and FF games. Although Final Fantasy IX this spot for years and years, upon further inspection I've found that the game FFIX was actually trying to emulate was in fact this one. I wish I had more room to discuss it, but you just have to experience it for yourself.

I've never been very good at Mario games unfortunately, but this one I've never really had a problem with for some reason. I remember playing this game for hours and hours in car as a child. I've always been a portable gamer, and this is my portable game of choice.

Another series I love, and the newest game on this list, The other RE games (although good) were plagued by bad controls and pre-rendered backgrounds. However all of that changed with Resident Evil 4, the graphics were beautiful, the bosses, epic, the combat, frantic, but everything balanced out into one amazing adventure that I've enjoyed over and over again.

Most believe Chrono Trigger to be the superior game in this case, and although I do love that game, there can only be one, and I actually prefer this Chrono Cross. The follow up to what many consider the greatest RPG of all time, Chrono Cross delivers in spades, with GORGEOUS graphics and a roster of over 70 characters, no to mention a constantly changing story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, Chrono Cross is most certainly my second favorite RPG outside the Final Fantasy series.

I don't know what it is about this game, maybe it's the innovative battle system, or the fact that it eludes me due it's rarity, but I love this game, and I can't figure out why. Either way though, it's a great game, and a classic between me and my friends.

I can't get enough of this game. The nostalgia factor alone is worth buying it. Great graphics, amazing characters, awesome story, and just a phenomenal feel. Whenever I'm feeling a need for a great RPG, Breath of Fire 2 can always answer the call. The cover of this game just doesn't do it justice, haha.

The only First Person Shooter on my list, this game was WAY ahead of it's time, I have yet to encounter another shooter weapons so balanced that I can defeat anyone in the game with just a pistol, no matter what they're packing. Halo can suck my toe, UT is king. HEADSHOT!

OH COME ON! How could I NOT add it!? I can't count the number of times I've beaten this game, it plagued my childhood and was more of an addiction than anything. I HAD to catch them all, no excuses! Even when I go back and look at this game today, it's amazing just how much innovation Nintendo was able to cram into one tiny Game Boy cartridge. That's the other thing, this was a HUGE game especially on the original Game Boy. Once you've played it, there's no doubting why it created an international pandemic and became the highest selling video game series of all time. Pokemon rocks.

While this game has never received a proper North American release, I have played it on my computer thanks to emulation for years and I have to say that this is most beautiful Super Nintendo game I've played by far, the story is fresh and creative, and the battle system, for it's time, was just as original. I love this game and if you ever get the chance to play it or either of it's sequels, do it. Star Ocean: Second Story is one of my favorite Playstation games, and the third installment, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, is one of the biggest games I've ever played, spanning two Playstation 2 DVDs. Star Ocean is a series that is FAR too underrated.
