My me list
A gamelist by cptalbertweskerGames you must play, to know who I am! Because they have more than likely shaped me as a block of human flesh
Dr Livingstone I presume...
If it were not for the simple, oddly coloured games such as Dr Livingstone on the the ZX Spectrum I probably would have never gotten into gaming!
Grim Fandango
My first ever game for the PC; and also my first experience of Tim Schafer's amazing brand of humourous writing.
Sonic 3 And Knuckles
Because all the other sonic games sucked in comparison; not only in gameplay, but the music was amazingly addictive.
Earthworm JIm 2
The game that made the Sega Saturn what it was for me, not only was Earthworm Jim an amazing cartoon, but the games were just as cool, sad that I still don't have it again (after going through stages of selling games)
Discworld 2
The game (or should I say demo) that really introduced the amazingly cool qualities of the point and click to me. Man, I used to play the demo on the Playstation endless, took me years to figure out what I actually had to do to finish it though :)
Grand Theft Auto
Grand Theft Auto just sums me up, I may be a real intense gamer, and love my stories in games. But nothing beats giving the original GTA a whirl, if only to mess around mindlessly killing people!
Resident Evil 2
Although I had played the original Resident Evil with all it's hammy lines and amazing fmv cutscenes, it wasn't until I played the demo of the sequel that I really got into survival horror games; Leon and Claire remain my two favourite characters in the whole series.. after Wesker of course, but I was smitten with him after I found out that he was such a bad ass in the original.
The Curse of Monkey Island
Not only is is so funnily written, with amazing lines, humour and the like, it was also the most pretty adventure game I'd ever played, this game... no, this series really lends to my humour, especially my referential humour. Because no games have ever referenced as good as a Lucas Arts one!
Mafia
This game was a dream come true; I love the 30's everything looks so pretty, and being set within a gangster's family make it hugely better as well! Along with restrictions on your speed limit; this has made it to one of my top favourite games of all time, and one I cannot see being topped, that is, unless Mafia 2 is good, or LA Noire
Shenmue
Now, this isn't as much of a me game as it is for my sister, but there's something about Shenmue that makes it perfect, it's cathartic properties and random activites probably lend to this, as I am a fan of seeing the norm in a videogame, let alone the fact that it's not set in the future with aliens or that there are no guns involved!
Silent Hill 2
This game, is the game of all games for me! It broke my innocence and let me see games as they should be, it broke barriers of story telling and psychological involvment for myself. It may infact be one of the only games I have played through more than once. With a host of characters that I will never forget, Silent Hill 2 is THE perfect gaming experience for myself.
Condemned: Criminal Origins
I thought I was scared playing Silent Hill 2; I don't know what I was thinking! When Condemned came along my whole view of horror gaming was completely turned around! When a game makes you hesitant to turn the corner for fear of an enemy it's my kind of game! And this is possibly the best gaming experience I have ever had; although lacking in the story and character development department, it excelled going new heights with lighting and creation of fear!
Max Payne
Max Payne is possibly the game that changed my life! No, seriously. Before Max Payne, games were just games, no thought was put into my head of the creators behind the games. But Sam Lake who wrote it, was a script writer, and it is Max Payne that gives me some hope for the future of myself, and for games becoming the cinematic experience they should have!
