CrashTest of Hot Potato

Hot Potato

CrashTestGames decided to dive into the fray and tackle a hunger cravings and hoped to get some French Fries out of the game Hot Potato. The quick crash test didn't start out too promising when I was warned on the Hot Potato GGE page that there would be a slight problem with the install. But that's why CrastTestGamers exist, so that you don't have to screw up your computers, I'll do it for you.

The install went fine, except for the fact that there was no link at all on the desktop or the Start menu. So I dug into the C: drive and did what Microsoft thinks most users are too incompetent to do... I looked in the folder "Program Files". I quick looked for a "Hot Potato" folder, no such luck. Ahh, that's right, I remembered seeing something like Roquebot something was the directory it would install to. And there it was, the great game frontier, Hot Potato. (So for future reference, you can start this game by going to this location: C:\Program Files\RoguebotStudios\HotPotato\HotPotato.exe)

I start up the game and HOLY COW they took a picture of the inside of my microwave. Don't let my wife see, I was supposed to clean that out ages ago. That's right, Hot Potato or better known as "Pong inside Benjamin's dirty microwave with a tiny potato and two pepper shakers", is a quick and simple game. With Single and Double Tater options, the re-playability of this game is endless. You can either play with your friend or play with yourself. (There was another option for "No Tater" but that just caused the microwave to take all the potatoes and go home because it didn't want to play anymore. Read: CRASHED) Since there was nobody around to play with me, I decided to play with myself. I kicked the "Single Tater" option into drive and set out to dominate the world of microwaved potatoes. (I really do prefer oven backed potatoes, they really are better.)

The first game was hotly contested. The battle between pepper shakers was heating up. No seriously, it was getting so hot that the potato started to burst into flames and then just like it started, my computer opponent slipped and let the flaming potato fly past his guard. I started to think this might be a serious challenge. Then it happened. The computer must have gotten all fired up and hot under the collar that it got stuck in the top right corner. I quickly fired through a few more scoring potatoes. I was victorious. The final score: 10 - 1 (Ok, I admit it, I let one of those slippery flaming potatoes get by me. Not sure how that happened, since the computer was stuck in the upper corner.)

One other side note on the game Hot Potato. I understand that in this day and age, we must be considerate of all and politically correctness rules all. (Well, I guess I missed that boat.) Anyway, it turns out that Potatoes have feelings and emotions as well. Buried deep in the options is a slider bar for "Potato Tolerance". This way, if your potato starts to get pissed off at you when you light him on fire, or smother him in sour cream and shredded cheese and then devour him. You can just adjust the slider and his tolerance level will be reset. I mean seriously, why can't gamers and potatoes just get along.
