The RPG Revolutionaries
This is a group for anything that has to do with role-playing games. Be it fantasy, science-fiction or some other type of stat-crunching, level-centric, story-driven game. This is a place to discuss our favorite games and to agree to disagree on what games deserve a place in the RPG Revolutionaries' Legacy Hall.
The Great Forum
The Scrying Pool
This week's game feature? Eschalon. Eschalon is an up and coming CRPG by Basilisk Games. The game itself is very reminiscent of older CRPGs and follows the time honored tradition of the top-down perspective RPG. Another great thing about Eschalon is that it is an Indie CRPG which is exciting due to the lack of a variety of Indie RPGs (not forgetting about Jeff Vogel and the folks at Spiderweb Software). Apparently the game is coming out quite soon and will have a demo available as well. Look out for this one!
Eschalon

Trailer:
Description:
Eschalon: Book I is a classic role-playing game experience that will take you across massive outdoor environments and deep into dozens of sprawling dungeons as you seek to uncover the mystery of who - or what - you are.
A tile-built, turn-based game world where the result of absolutely every action is rolled, calculated or statistically determined. Strategy is paramount to success; careful skill management, equipment selection and magic usage will win your fights, not rapid button clicking. We are very pleased to say this is not another "action RPG".
Hundreds of items and dozens of creatures await your discovery. A combination of randomly generated treasure and carefully hidden goodies means that no two games will play the exact same way.
Unlimited character development style: Choose from 24 unique skills to make the character you want and 8 base attributes that affect your character's every action throughout the game. The game world does not scale or adjust itself to match anyone's play style, so the ease or difficulty of the game is directly related to how successful you are at developing your character.
Combat plays out at your pace. Eschalon: Book I features a turn-based system that allows you to roll through combat as fast or slow you want...make it fast and furious, or analyze every option for maximum advantage.
A non-linear storyline means that the game world is open to explore as you desire. Follow the storyline or don't...it's up to you. Just be careful where you go and who you choose to trust- the world of Eschalon can be a deadly place for an inexperienced adventurer.
An epic adventure that you must face alone...a single-player RPG carefully designed to feel like the great old school RPGs of the past such as Ultima®, Might & Magic®, and Wizardry®.

The Greatest RPGs ever made.
Blakfistforge submitted his vote for all nine Gold Box AD&D Games lol....so, I put Pool of Radiance up because it's the first...what does everyone else think?
Classic game ( I still play it till this day sometimes) Duplicity submitted this one....I have to agree as well....what does everyone else think?
Voted by Dvalin as worthy of the acclaim of the Legacy Hall...I tend to agree...what do you guys think?
I believe this game should be on here by default, if there was no D&D I would venture to say that we wouldn't have the great RPGs that we have today, if anyone disagrees then let me know.
Killbot voted for this one...I haven't played it yet but it looks pretty damn good, what does everyone else think?
Voted by Will O' Reagan as the best RPG....I have to say that this is probably my fav in the series...by the way Will voted for FF 2,3 & 5....but I figured we could narrow it down to one (even though they are all great games respectively) but I don't want to get excessive (there would be like ,um ,what, almost a dozen games with Final and Fantasy in the title? lol)
Butter Sauce voted this one in...never played it..heard it was good though, what does everyone else think?
Em Dangla submitted her vote for this one. I haven't played it but I heard that this one was a damn good game (I have actually been meaning to play it for some time lol...) Anyways, let me know what you guys think!
Salazar submitted his vote for this one, says it is a damn good game. Long and involved story from what I hear (as all RPGs should be). If you agree let me know.
One of my favorite RPGs of all time, great open ended gameplay and one of the most customizable games I have played. Let me know what you think.
Andrea submitted her vote for this...I haven't played it yet...but I have heard a lot of great things about UO....anyways, tell me what you think!
