The Profile of a Wannabe Developer

Yeah I've been talking about developing a game for close to 6 years now, and I don't have a single thing to show for it. My friends want to smash my skull in with a keyboard when I ramble on about it, and I want to smash my own head in with a keyboard hoping that it will jar the right idea out.

Aspirations

Lately I've become interested in low maintenance, low impact, but slightly in depth casual games. Something you can pick up for 2 minutes, or 2 hours, the choice completely being yours.

The problem is, I'm a dreamer. And us dreamers, we like to dream ourselves right to the Moon. I like the Moon. It's a nice place, kind of a stepping point to Mars.

Oh right. Reality.

Personal Information

I've been an undergraduate for way too long, but I will finally graduate this Spring with a double major in Art and Japanese Studies.

Speaking of which, unicode test! (OH GOD I PUT UNICODE TEXT HERE AND IT BURIED MY DATA FROM HERE ON).

Oh well. The following is the retyped version:

I am currently applying to go on what is known as the JET Program, which would allow me to teach English in Japan for 1-5 years. I also plan on taking the GRE, and applying to a few schools with the ideal pursuit of a Masters/PhD in Japanese Studies.

Pseudo Game Ideas

  1. Japanese language learning game + extensive dictionary.
  2. Some kind of casual 'in depth' game where you can play for 2 minutes, or 2 hours, the choice being yours.

Current Game Interests

  1. Guild Wars - I like the fact that I can hop in and do a few rounds of PvP for a few minutes, or spend hours doing PvE quests, and when I am sick of playing I can click the 'x' at any time without a single regret. There are also some severe technical interests about the game too...
  2. Animal Crossing Wild World - It's fun. It's simple. It's casual. You can play for a few minutes, or thirty minutes, and always get something out of it. I also like the fact that there's a point where after period of time, what you can achieve levels off, keeping it casual.
