I'm a developer of quirly Flash titles. When I'm not playing games, I'm watching a Kevin Smith movie (Clerks, Dogma, Mallrats, etc.), checking out the new episode of My Name is Earl or listening to weird, quirky music (video game soundtracks, Sonata Arctica, Edguy, etc.)
Don't avoid doing something for fear of doing it wrong!
| Game | What I Did | Difficulty of Development | Anecdote |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coding (Flash Pro 8) | Lived in my cube | Still developing, still living in my cube :) | |
| Entire Development | Not Bad | It was my first game, so everything seemed a lot harder at the time than it was. Everyone should break into development with something so easy, though! | |
| Everything | Average | I spent hours and hours on the art, trying to come up with a great symbol for different bubbles (it was originally going to be titled Bubble Warrior), but as I failed and failed, my wife (and helper) said I should just use the candy tube on Photoshop (or was it PSP?). An hour later, there were the candies done, there was the name changed (it was just before halloween, too!) and there was the title image, too! | |
| Programming | Average | This was for the 72 hour GDC in 2006 for the "retro" category, although it was done in about 10-15 hours total, which was great to me since I still had homework and work, AND I hadn't used Flash since Candy Catastrophe a year before. Finished it and posted, then checked out the other games to vote, and thought that it would do quite well! Instead, it ended up in the bottom 10 or so, LOL, out of 25. Oh well! |
