Ted Southard

I've got my thinking cap on...

Ted has been modelling using trueSpace for 10 years, just recently switching over to XSI. He also has modelling experience with Constructor. He is able to code in C/C++, Visual Basic, TorqueScript, and works with both TGE and TSE.

Current projects include a texture pack, certain AI and procedural level/geometry thing-a-ma-bobs, and the ever-present MMO project (hence the unshaven appearance in the photo).

I'm all ears, and quite a bit of mouth too...

Bloggity Blog...

Honestly, it's not like they watch the game or anything... But still, chatting with an NPC can add a new dimension to gameplay, and while Interactive Fiction has been tackling and trying to drag that particular quarterback to the ground for decades now, MMO's have largely forgotten all about it...In ...

So there's been these discussions in the forums lately about game ideas, and how they're stale. Agreed. And how games would benefit from more openness. Agreed. And then the discussion revolves around the "end-game" of that gameplay- what you can do:example: In my game, you'll be able to do ...

Whoooo.... Textures!Who knew it would take so long to get a pre-rolled shopping cart working? Not me. Two weeks of tweaking and testing (sometimes during D&D sessions, which leads to a lot of WoW-style default-action-taking-from-behind-the-laptop-screen, which is boring for a rogue- especially o ...

...or it certainly feels like it. I hadn't realized that my last blog was in 2005, or else I would have done something about it. Nothing really happened last year anyway...So what am I up to now that rates a blog? Well... The new DigitalFlux Entertainment website is up, along with a sub-domain for E ...

Epic Frontiers update, finally!Unfortunately there's no screenshots in this .plan, but the next one will have some nice ones... Specifically, missions. So far, here's some progress made since the last .plan:- Got the dedicated server working. Not only is that routine, but I have it pulling assets fr ...

Massively Multiplayer GUI's!!! Okay, so they're not that massively multiplayer... But they're designed for more than one player, does that count? The GUI's are coming along nicely, even though they insist on putting up strategically placed fights here and there ;) Fought a bug yesterday and today tha ...

Good and bad...Seems like everything this week has a good and bad side to it, with most things showing the bad side first...Firstly- Not that I thought it would be easy, but I never did like the business side of games, and the financial-talk part of it is rough. Of course, the good side of it is tha ...

Bot Muggers... And how not to complicate your AI...Okay, so I can finally loot the bots in my game! It's a great feeling, though for some reason, they get back up when I start looting them and do a run animation(they probably want to hang on to their stuff). Other than that, it's rather nice.Working ...

Less about AI this week...My last .plan talked about the AI functionality I was working on for the game, and since then I've planned out a few adjustments for the 4th generation of the AI that I'm working on. Mostly, I'm looking at an accurate emotional model that I can use to model more complex emo ...

AI........My last .plan got swallowed up into the great void where all lost GG posts go... Not that it's any great loss, it was rambling and generally crappy, and not of much use to anyone. So, in putting some AI test dialogs back in my game, I figured I'd give people a sneak peak of the evolution o ...
