| Technical Programmer | Harder than Planned | This project was part of a 3 week long game development project for a school course. We had a 2 week design proposal development, followed by a 3 week long development. We worked in groups of 4, and I was assigned to this project early on as a gameplay programmer. Due to the short time frame and a couple of group members being unavailable for at least half of our deadline I ended up having to incorporate sound, gui, collision detection, and particle systems to the engine we used to move the project along. Having never come close to releasing anything close to resembling a game over my college career this endeavor was a bit daunting and scary, but I think in the end it provided a valuable learning experience for me and my teammates. The final product was a pretty simple romp through the on-rails shooter genre, but it was very nice to know that I could be able to incorporate other technologies into a (somewhat) cohesive end product. |
