I think like most game coders who work in their spare time, I've got a lot of projects I've started but not finished for one reason or another.
I'm currently in the process of working on 2 projects, Guns Reloaded and CrashBlock, both in Pascal using the JediSDL framework.

Fight Boredom, Write Games!
| Game | What I Did | Difficulty of Development | Anecdote |
|---|---|---|---|
| Everything bar the music | Harder than Planned | It is amazing how something so simple can spiral into something complicated by the addition of an extra feature. The game is still under development so more info when it's closer to completion | |
| Everything bar the concept | Lived in my cube | I started writing this game a long time ago, using VB6.. in retrospect, it was a bad choice. My game engine for Chaos was also very bad, it seriously needs reworking, something I don't have the time to do. There are bugs still which alude me, but I basically works. There is no AI, but a couple of players can huddle around the keyboard. | |
| Everything | Average | This game took me a little while to do, but it wasn't really difficult. The main coding using DelphiX was simple enough. It was just a matter of plugging in the AI (very basic) and a camera system. Basically, an extention to the DelphiX tutorials I made beforehand. The music was done using ModPlug Tracker. | |
| Everything bar the music | Harder than Planned | This was supposed to be simple, the concept is easy, I thought too easy, so why not spice it up a little by adding a live action element. Well, live action on a budget isn't easy and I'm still trying to get it to look right. The easiest part was the graphics, using XaraX as my main workhorse, the graphics have been a breeze and I think I'm getting some good results, certainly some positive feedback. XaraX has a load of really cool plugins which let me create effects that would usually be quite difficult to achieve. The hardest part, by far, has to be the State based animation system. Because it's a state machine which takes inputs from the environment, it's a nightmare to debug.. I got there in the end, but I was starting to question my sanity at one point.. it was only my collection of singing potatoes which kept me sane. |
