Norv Brooks
Hi, I'm Norv Brooks of Vron Software located in Pasadena, CA. I've been creating games since my early youth. At first, I was making board games. Later, when my son became interested in computers, I decided to join him starting out with an Atari 800. Programming and creating graphics with only 48K of memory and no hard drive was quite a challenge.
Finding that there was no market for games designed for the Atari, I switched over to the PC. I was able to convince Avalon Hill to convert their popular board game Advanced Civilization to a computer game and came up with the original game design. As things evolved, I ended up doing Ancilliary Programming on a DOS game that sold modestly well and got good reviews.
While working on Advanced Civilization, I met Jim Rose who later formed Talonsoft game co. known for their war strategy games. While working on the Avalon Hill project, I discussed with Jim my concept of a wildfire fighting game. Just before he sold his company to Take Two Interactive, he contracted me to develop the Wildfire game. Unfortunately, under the new management the project didn't work out; however, I was able to retain my wildfire fighting IP and am currently developing under the title of SmokeJumpers. About a year ago I licensed TGE and began developing the SmokeJumers project using that engine. But this past October at the Community Weekend it became apparent that with the resources I had available, it would be wiser to simplifiy and use TGB instead. That's where I currently am and hope to have a playable Level One by the end of January 2007.
