Prospero

Hello! I'm a 27 year old hobby-coder from rainy England, and since 1998 I have used various versions of Blitz Basic to develop my projects. Recently, I'm spending more time coding than ever, and am enjoying it greatly.

Up until the summer of 2008 I tried to make a name for myself under the flag of Firestorm Productions, but these days I've switched to a more personal blog site that has made its home at zolyx.co.uk.

So far the games I've made include Poing! PC and Millenipede, and I have plans for other funky stuff in the future!

When I'm not working, coding, eating, sleeping or maybe even all of those at once, I play World of Warcraft with a few friends from work. I used to be in a hardcore raiding guild but now I prefer to take my time and enjoy the sights and sounds of Azeroth at a more relaxed pace...

My favourite games of times past include Ranarama for the C64, Elite for the Amiga and Descent for the PC, amongst many others. It's a pleasure to live at a time when indie game development seems to be thriving - there are some truly interesting and original games out there ripe for the picking!

Whenever I'm not sat at my computer, I enjoy reading - Terry Pratchett for Prime Minister! - and radio-control modelling. I like cats.

Stuff I've Done

Poing! PC
Poing is a unique breakout-style remake of the original Amiga version by Paul van der Valk. Smashing every single brick you find isn't a good idea, as they'll just keep coming back...

Made with assistance from David "Darkeagle" Gundry.

Millenipede
A simple but curiously addictive remake of the Atari classic Centipede. Classic retro arcade goodness! Perfect for coffee breaks...

Everything Else
I'm the webmaster of the Firestorm Productions website where all the recent news on our projects can be found. I might also get around to updating my game reviews blog sometime, but there's just not enough hours in the day...
Here's a selection of GGE-listed games that I own, have played, or otherwise think deserve a mention somehow. As you can probably guess, I'm a big fan of indie games!
Ridiculously detailed dwarfy survival adventure. Beware the elephants!
Possibly the best PC platform adventure ever made
A worthy rival to the platform adventure throne
Fun, mindless shooty pewpewpew goodness
A competitive online RPG that isn't a time sink
