I have been interested in computer and video games as well as 2d and 3d animation for as long as I can remember.
When playing any games, the first thing I notice in the game is how well the animations are done, and how I would have animated them differently. I realize that sometimes there are technical issues with the game engine, and it's no fault of the animator that the animations don't play like they are supposed to when certain events happen in the game (like when a character walks into a wall, the walk cycle will keep playing, when it should be playing a stop or idle animation). But when working on a team, the programmers and animators must work together to resolve any issues such as motion blending, frame rate issues, translation/rotation issues, and so forth. These issues should be resolved before the game is shipped. Or if it's a PC game, it can be fixed in a patch. :)
My animation background includes a solid knowledge of 3ds Max and Character studio which I have been using for 5+ years. My emphasis is animating characters for games using Character Studio and the bone tools inside of 3ds Max. Although I do use other 3d packages, I feel the most comfortable using 3ds Max.
